Feroviarilor Park, Cluj-Napoca: A Living Example of How Architecture and Landscape Shape Better Cities

In the heart of Cluj-Napoca, Feroviarilor Park has been transformed, from a forgotten industrial space into one of Transylvania’s most celebrated urban regeneration projects — a living example of how architecture and landscape can work together to enhance life quality and community wellbeing.

Design in collaboration with Atelier Mass and Metapolis Architects, the project was led by arch. Vlad Sebastian Rusu and built by Eco Garden Construct. The park reimagines a 5-hectare area of disused railway land into a vibrant green corridor that reconnects neighborhoods, encourages biodiversity, and creates new opportunities for recreation and social connection.

Building with Nature: From Vision to Vibrant Reality

For Eco Garden Construct’s team, Feroviarilor Park is a story of collaboration between design, engineering, and ecology. Every pathway, seating area, and natural feature was created to integrate seamlessly with the existing terrain, respecting the site’s industrial past while restoring its ecological value.

Native plants, mature trees, and adaptive irrigation systems ensure the park thrives year-round, while natural materials and low-impact construction methods reflect the team’s commitment to resilience and long lasting landscapes. The result is an inviting, inclusive, and enduring public space that reconnects residents to nature —  in the heart of the city.
